Hello monday!

I'm back for a week now and work is already piling up! After a quiet summer, I enjoy getting new commissions and starting my illustration courses.

So to start the week, some news flashes:

Extra illustration course
There are so many applications that I'm trying to start and extra illustration course on wednesday. This means you can join a class from 18.00-19.30 or from 19.30-22.00. For more information, see the UCK website or contact the UCK administration.
Update: The courses are full! I'll start new ones in February 2014.

Kim's Little Monsters at DaWanda
I opened an extra online shop at DaWanda with an online PDF illustration course and paper goods. My plan is to make more online self study illustration courses you can purchase here. I'll let you know when the time is there!

Comfort boxes XL
The pictures above are of a private commission for two custom made XL Comfort Boxes for a newlywed couple who unfortunately live far apart (we're talking different continents here).
I really enjoyed making these and plan to offer custom comfort boxes in my shop soon.

Kim's Little Monsters bij DaWanda

The last pictures! In the second one, you see a little silver fish tail (part of a necklace) I made in a silver workshop on Ko Phangan, Thailand (see their website for more info).
In the last picture... 25 weeks pregnant on Haad Tien beach! (I'm currently almost 28 weeks).

Lovely weekend!

Fijne weekend!

For those of you who wonder... the dog in the first picture is sleeping (not dead!). He just opened one lazy eye to check what we were doing and went on with his afternoon nap.

On our travel we met so many lovely people, including children. The kids in Thailand, but especially in Cambodia didn't seem to be shy and curiously came to us for a little chat (and clearly not to beg). I had some mixed feelings about it though as most of them obviously were very poor (money wise). It made me think about the priviledged luxury our little one will be born into.
And even though the people in Cambodia didn't own a lot, they were so very friendly and welcoming. Like our tuktuk driver Sokhai, in Siem Reap, who welcomed us in to his home an proudly showed us his newborn baby girl.

I was also very impressed by how hands on the Cambodians are when it comes to re-building their country after the war. The hotel we stayed in (Kiri Boutique Hotel) educated joung adults (orphans) so they can get a job in tourism. We also visited a ceramic workshop where people were trained in pottery (they made such beautiful pieces, I just wanted to buy the whole shop!).
If we ever go back (and I think we will) I am determined to sort out some good foundations and bring products (school stuff, clothes, etc) they need.
